Golden Temple

Gurudwara Baba Deep Singh ji Shaheed

Accordig to the Sikh legend, Baba Deep Singh avenged the desecration of the Golden Temple by fighting the Afghan army in 1757. Baba Deep Singhji continued to fight after being decapitated slaying his enemies with his head on one hand and his sword on the other. On reaching this sacred place he breathed his last.

Gurudwara Baba Atal Sahib

Gurudwara Baba Atal Sahib, an octogonal tower of 45 mtr. height stands tall on the outskirts of the Golden Temple. It is named after the minor son of Sri Hargobing Ji. Baba Atal sacrificed his own life in the exchange of his friends and gurudwara wa founded in 1770. The beautiful morals on the walls just add to the grandeuer and spirituality of the place.

Gurudwara Santokhsar Sahib

Gurudwara Shri Tahli (Santokhsar) Sahib is situated in the Distt City Amritsar. When (Guru) Ram Das, had not yet ascended to the gaddi, he came here to find out a place for excavation of the holy tank on instructions from Guru Amar Das. When (Guru) Ram Das was getting the place dug, he found a Yogi, meditating. After sometime the Yogi opened his eyes and told Guru Ram Das that he had been meditating here for a long time, waiting for a Guru to give him salvation. He disclosed his name as Santakha and then breathed his last. The tank was then named as Santokhsar. Guru Arjan completed the unfinished work of excavation of tanks - Santokhsar and Amritsar.

Gurudwara Ramsar Sahib

Gurudwara Ramsar stands alongside the Ramsar sarovar, the smallest of Amritsar's five holy sarovars. Located near Chativind Gate, on the south-eastern side of the walled city of Amritsar, the present Gurdwara Ramsar is a small marble-lined hall topped by a gilded, fluted lotus dome.

Gurudwara Bibeksar Sahib

Gurudwara Bibeksar Sahib Sarovar is located to south/south-east of the most important landmark for the Sikhs, Harimandir Sahib in the city of Amritsar. Gurdwara Bibeksar Sahib is situated on the banks of the Bibeksar Sarovar. It is situated near Chattiwind gate it also marks the place where Guru Hargobind Sahib used to tie his horse with Kareer Tree; this tree can still be seen. The Guru himself laid the foundation of the holy tank or Sarovar.

Goindwal Sahib

Goindwal Sahib, is located in Taran Taran district in the state of Punjab in India about 23 km from Tarn Taran Sahib considered to be the first pilgrimage site of the Sikhs, the Gurudwara Goindwal Sahib came up alongside the Baoli(well) with 84 steps.

The baoli was first built by Guru Amardas Ji in 1559. The popular belief is that the 84 steps to the Baoli represent 84,000 incarnations man has to undergo for the ultimate salvation from his mortal world. Reciting Japji Sahib on each of its stairs frees us of all this mortal cycle of birth and death.

Gurudwara Sri Tarn Taran Sahib

Gurudwara Sri Tarn Taran Sahib is a gurdwara established by the fifth guru, Guru Arjan Dev, in the city of Tarn Taran Sahib, Punjab, India. The site has the distinction of having the largest sarovar (water pond) of all the gurdwaras. It is famous for the monthly gathering of pilgrims on the day of Amavas (a no-moon night). It is near Harmandir Sahib, Amritsar.

Gurudwara Baba Bhuda Sahib

Gurudwara Baba Bhuda Sahib is situated on Chaabal Amritsar road. Baba Bhuda ji spend much part of his life here. GURU ARJAN DEV JI also visited this place. Mata Ganga ji desired her wish for son which GURU ARJAN DEV JI suggested her to pay homage to BABA BHUDA JI and ask for putar di daat, Mata ji got delecious food prepared and visited Baba Ji here. But Baba ji refused to accept the food. Later Mata ji herself prepared missi roti and a onion (pyaag) and visited Baba ji. BABA BHUDA JI blessed Mata ji with son and told her that her son would be great warrior and he will crush muslims head as he crushed the onion.

Gurudwara Chheharta Sahib

Gurudwara Chheharta Sahib is situated on the Amritsar Gurusar Sultan Road, near village Guru ki Vadali, seven kms from Amritsar.

Guru ki Vadali is the birthplace of the Sixth Guru, Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib, the son of Guru Arjan Dev Ji. To celebrate the birth of his son, Guru Arjan Dev Ji constructed a big well at this place. This well had six Persian wheels to draw out the water and thus came to be known as Chheharta, the well with six wheels. This well helped in removing water scarcity in the region and enabled the greening of the fields.
